President's Page June 27, 2007

Every beginning must have an end and after 52 weeks of presiding over this great club, I am stepping aside for a new leader. I thank God for letting me see this assignment through. I thank all Rotarians especially the past presidents and the directors that have supported me in this epic journey. I also recognise the active support that our Inner Wheel Members have provided. They have been by our side throughout this journey.

With your support, I am leaving the club a better club than I met it. The Best Club in District 9110 award was re-gained after being away from the Club for 2 years. The Club won the RI Significant Achievement Award for the first time in more than a decade. It was the first time the club had a major donor to Rotary Foundation and we had three, contributing a record $20,000 to Rotary Foundation in the year. On communication, we introduced the Yahoo Group to increase the flow of communication and also launched our own webside, gbagadarotary.blogspot.com.

On finances, a total of N580,000 has been left in our Skye Bank accounts. This represents the excess income over expenditure during the year. Our total income was a record N12.3m and we spent a record N11.8m. Of the N11.8m total expenditure, N5.5m was spent on our various projects during the year and N2.7m was donated to Rotary Foundation. With the assistant of our able Treasurer, our draft account is ready for auditing and we hope to have the audited account before the DG's visit on July 18.

I want to end my note by assuring you that I remained committed to using my talent, teasure and time to promote the cause of Rotary. Being a Rotarian is a journey. It should never end.

Yours sincerely,

Wale Adegbite
President 2006/07
